A great anecdote from a large, national digital transformation project I led. We had an institution with an old historical collection of artifacts. The collection was cataloged in the mid-1980's, however the PC with the data was long dead, and the data itself, entered in a software program that no longer existed. We took on the challenge to extract the data. We built an original PC 286x, re-installed the software via 5.25" floppy disc and successfully extracted the data via a multi stage process
